Robert Kimmitt is Executive Vice President of Global and Strategic Policy of AOL Time Warner Inc. Mr. Kimmitt is responsible for setting AOL Time Warner`s strategic course on major public policy issues affecting the company in the United States and around the world. Prior to joining AOL Time Warner in July 2001, Mr. Kimmitt was President and Vice Chairman of Commerce One, Inc., a leading electronic commerce company. Previously, Mr. Kimmitt was a partner in the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, and prior to that, he was a managing director of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Kimmitt has also held a series of high-level government posts, serving as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, General Counsel to the U.S. Treasury Department, and Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs at the White House. Mr. Kimmitt also served an extended combat tour with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vietnam and is currently a Major General in the Army Reserve. Mr. Kimmitt, who speaks fluent German, serves on the boards of Allianz Life Insurance Co. of North America, Commerce One, Inc., Siemens AG, United Defense Industries, Inc., and Xign Corp., as well as Georgetown University and numerous non-profit organizations involved in public affairs. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Diplomacy. Mr. Kimmitt was graduated with a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
