Mr. Wedell is a top manager in the IT industry and worked many years for Microsoft Europe. Mr. Wedell joined the company in 1983 as a sales manager when Microsoft was launching its European subsidiaries in the three largest national markets. After becoming managing director of the German subsidiary in 1987, he expanded Microsoft's sales and marketing operations into Switzerland and Austria, and later into the emerging Eastern European markets, where he established subsidiaries in eight additional countries. During his tenure at Microsoft, Microsoft's sales in this region grew from zero to more than $1 billion per year. Initially focused on ensuring Microsoft's success with the European PC manufacturers, Mr. Wedell led the expansion in Europe, building the marketing, distribution, enterprise sales, and customer support organizations, consulting services and administrative infrastructure to support continued high growth in a diverse 300 million person market. Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Wedell spent five years as the marketing manager at Modular Computer Systems. Mr. Wedell has a degree in computer science and mathematics. He is the Chairman of the Munich Network, an internationally-recognized association that has established several successful programs to support entrepreneurship in the Munich region. He also chairs the Munich Business Angel Network.
